About

Dr. Haidara said: "After growing up in West Africa, I had the opportunity to complete College, medical School, and finished a residency program in Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland. From humble upbringing, to being in one of the most rewarding fields in medicine, I cannot but be grateful for all the blessings and opportunities I have had. The world is in need of great eye surgeons, from America to Africa, and I have made it a goal to provide the best eye care to those who need it the most.

From there, Dr. Haidara has been planning to deliver exceptional eye care to the people of Mali. He continued to hone in his surgical skills and prepare for the goal of creating a system in Sub-Saharen Africa that will mirror the work done in Aravind eye hospital system in India. He performed surgeries in Honduras in 2018 and got exposed to an efficient system there. However, in order to make the program self sustaining, the Aravind model was what captived his attention. More work is being done to set up a stand alone hosptial and capacity to build satellite locations to provide eye care for those most in need in remote villages. The initial goal about this project is to help and train local ophhtalmologists, as well as provide material goods to perform state of the art cataract surgeries.
